On-site Services

Connect to Careers is not just a networking opportunity; it's also an opportunity to polish your professional profile.

Resume Critique Station, 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

We will have a team of Career Advisors available to help you update resume and give you a professional edge. Highlight your special skills and talents that will get you noticed.

To get the most out of this service, we recommend attending the fair with the best version of your current resume - printed and on a USB. Here are some tips to help you get started:

  1. Reflect the “real you”: Detail the skills and experience that demonstrates your qualifications to do the job clearly. Employers deserve an authentic description of your skills and experience from your resume.
  2. Use Evidence: Don’t overstate your abilities in the summary of qualifications. Whatever you indicate in the qualifications summary must be supported by evidence of these achievements within the body of the resume.
  3. Create accomplishment statements: Crafting strong accomplishment statements to describe your experiences (paid and unpaid) can help you target your resume, communicate your skills, and differentiate yourself from the competition. Here are some examples:
    • Provided customer service in a busy retail environment resulting in the creation of a loyal customer base and improved sales by 10%.
    • Maintained and updated patient files for rehabilitation clinic with approximately 340 regular patients.
    • Oversaw group project by providing vision and direction regarding project objectives, task distribution resulting in group cohesion and a successful project.
  4. Check your grammar: Do a spell check and have someone else review your resume before the fair.
  5. Be consistent: Once you make your stylistic choices on your resume, be sure you follow it through on all your resume content.
